Words That Make Smallholder Smile

Words are cool.

The following words entertain my little mind:

Preposterous. It sounds like what it means.

Moonbat. Adding “barking” in front of it and it makes me think of a Lovecraftian apparition.

Assclown. Vulgar and insulting, but it makes me chortle.

Chortle. Chortle makes me chortle.

Erudite.

Ig’nant. The opposite of erudite. As in: “Boy, youse so ig’nant, ya couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the ’structions were on the heel!”

Pugnacious. It too sounds like what it means.

Pernicious. Followed by knids.

Luddite.

Philisitine.

Nimrod.

Enigmatic. Though what it means is a mystery to me.

What words amuse you, oh Ministers and faithful readers?

Heh.

I taught my AP US history class apoplectic as a vocabulary word.

Is this just words that amuse us? Or is it words we like too?

I love the word “plinth.” It just rolls off the tounge… Plinth…

Am I not on that list?

Maximum Leader - you left out obstreperous.

Don’t feel left out, Sadie. I did list you - right between moonba and chortle. (Beats a hasty retreat.)

Blort
Speaks for itself… The feeling you get after “To the tables! And stuff yourselves!” [/Errol Flynn “The Adentures of Robin Hood”]

A colleague I worked with 20 yrs ago coined that one, and it stuck with me ever since. I toyed with getting it as a license plate, but the ‘Mate wisely offered that there may be days I wouldn’t be so happy to be sporting that one. As usual, he’s right– so that ideer was nixed.

Boob/Boobs/Boobies
There’s something about that word that is quite funny. The shape of the letters are apropos.

{Wondering why I am stuck on “b” words at the ‘mo’ment…}
