Gettin ink done in all 50 states

Greetings, loyal minions. Your Maximum Leader sees that the great state of Oklahoma has now legalized tattoo parlors. Oklahoma was the last state in the Union to legalize tattoos.

Humm… Your Maximum Leaders suspects that the fact that getting a tattoo was illegal in Oklahoma didn’t stop anyone who wanted a tattoo from getting one.

Additionally… Is your Maximum Leader the only one who sees the prevalence of tattoos in America today as a sign of impending cultural doom?

Carry on.

Not at all. Theodore Dalrymple, quite possibly the best English writer living today (except, of course, for you, O Maximum Leader), has a couple of books out that touch on that very subject. He also has a rather amusing essay (http://www.city-journal.org/html/5_4_oh_to_be.html) about the state of England today (well, 1995, anyhow, when he wrote it), in which he further excoriates tattoos and those who get them.

I’m not sure I agree; I’ve seen some pretty artistically interesting tattoos on such TV shows as Miami Ink, as well as some non-vain reasons to get them. Dalrymple concentrates mostly on the sort of semi-conscious idiots that get “LOVE/HATE” tattooed on their fingers, but there is, I believe, a much wider variety of reasons to get them than he cites. Not all of the mainstreaming of tattoos is bad.

Sorry about that tattoo thing in Oklahoma. I tried to stop it, but then my constituents saw the navel ring, and well, that kinda invalidated my point.

You know, I am pretty fricking sick of tatoos. It is sooooo over done.

I can’t wait til’ some of thes “Ladies” wake up at 40 and realize that Tramp Stamp on their ass isn’t as cool as they thought it was….

Back to the trenches….
